Compressing files is the way people send large files over the internet. If you’ve ever received something in ZIP or RAR format, you have opened a compressed file. Most operating systems come with a basic decompressor like Stuffit, but Unarchiver (and its Windows cousin, 7Zip) are a true swiss army knife of compressing and decompressing files. They are free, open source, and they open more formats than any other.
